ABOUT
Caroline Fink collects moments, experiences, emotions, and topics to transform them into photographs, films, and classic reportages. As a passionate mountaineer, the focus of her work lies on the Alps, the mountains of the world, people connected to the mountains, and places where we experience nature at its purest. Discovering for herself, immersing fully, and viewing the world with the eyes of a child are the most important tools of her work, as she firmly believes that what moves oneself has the power to inspire others. She is a member of the prestigious Explorers Club based in New York, which has been dedicated to the exploration of Terra Incognita since 1904.
In photography, she works in the field of classic reportage and alpine photography, as well as fine art projects; furthermore, she is a director of studies in photography and digital storytelling at MAZ in Lucerne and teaches at the Leica Academy of Switzerland. When making films, she specializes in directing and camera work. After completing a master’s degree in sociology many years ago, she remains highly interested in socio-cultural topics and enjoys critically questioning social realities. Furthermore, she enjoys working in multiple languages. Born in the bilingual city of Biel/Bienne and raised in the watchmaking town of Grenchen, not far from the language border and shaped by factory workers from all over Europe, diversity and multilingualism have early influenced her worldview. In addition to her native language, German/Swiss German, she is fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, and English, and has some written and spoken skills in Farsi. She lives in the center of Zurich but spends many days outdoors, mostly in the Alps.
